Little Nippers - 1 to 6 years | Junior Surf - 7 to 13 years | Ocean Athletes - 10 to 13 years
Little Nippers
Our popular Little Nippers programme is aimed at children aged 1 years to 6 years old who are keen to get involved early! It familiarises young children with the beach and helps them develop water confidence.
The programme runs alongside our Junior Surf programme on Sundays to make it easy for you to involve the whole family in an afternoon of fun at the beach.
Junior Surf Sport
Our Junior Surf programme for 7 - 13 year olds is designed to teach surf skills and water safety with an emphasis on:
Having fun
Being with friends
Being part of a team
Fair play
Learning basic life saving skills
We start the Junior Surf programme from the first weekend of November and it runs through until early March (weather permitting!), with a short break over the summer holiday period. Sessions are held at 3pm Sunday afternoons.
Those aged 10-13 years old will be tested for their 200m swim badge, which they need to obtain before taking part in knee board sessions in the ocean.
Junior Surf Carnivals
All our junior members have the opportunity to compete at local surf club carnivals throughout the summer season. Carnivals are a great way to develop surf skills in a fun and competitive environment, experience other beaches and meet members from other clubs.
Oceans Athletes
Our Oceans training is primarily aimed at those 10 - 13 year olds who want to compete in the "Oceans" U14 National Championships. We also have a number of other athletes attend who may not be competing at Oceans but are keen to improve their surf skills. Oceans training aims to provide enjoyable and rewarding experiences in a positive environment.
The Oceans squad can train three times a week over summer. Athletes don’t need to attend every training - they can pick the sessions that suit. From early July until October, 10 to 13 year olds can also attend pool training sessions on a Sunday morning to learn rescue skills and the proper technique for paddling a knee board.
